personal statement

response to application to residencies. i just like the format of the comments. supportive, good points.
saved 9/14/2004

i liked both PSs very much. here are some comments to think about.

triple board:
1st para - kinDergarten
3rd para, second to last sent - i';d take out "such" in similar SUCH opportunities, since you have such in the next sentence

next para = malnut has a prtic neg eff on pulm funct in cf pts and in THIS pts case, compromisED or " WAS
COMPROMISING" her elig,

last: i intend to home those ?__ skills?

overall: i like it a lot BUT: i am a believer in psychotherapy, and i think it's a good thing when people get it.
in 5 th para: i might not start with sentence re: psychother. if you're in a triple board prog., i don't see how much psychother training you can get, and i doubt it will be their claim to fame. they may even say to themselves "she won't like it here," or "then this isn't the training for her." i'm not sayiing elim, but maybe put it in the middle? just a thought. you might play up the research a tad too - everyone wants people to do clinc res in psych
but it is very well written and i think indicates that you would be a compassionate and thoughtful psychiatrist, which they ought to care about.

regular: i really like the brown, honesty tulip one as well. very creative. i had a tiny bit of trouble understanding the colonia one --- are they makeshift city type things? was this in med school?
honesty: very good. might add " deciding on a leave of absence FROM MED SCH" i know you say it later on "..fraying at the edge in medical school " - maybe amend to include when in med school (i don't know when - first yr? second yr? ). i guess they will already know. just a thought,
last sent: i eag. await THE opportu...."
again, you talk about psychother before psychopharm. for me, that is good. but there will be some programs that not only don't TEACH that but don't believe it. and you want to go someplace where they DO teach it. so i'm just suggesting think about it a little for how you want to phrase in PS.

if you need me to write a letter for you, i would be glad to.
