We are delighted to announce a new program award jointly sponsored by
AADPRT and the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry
(AAPDP) honoring the work and life of Victor Teichner, M.D., an
innovative psychoanalyst and educator. The purpose of this award is to
support a Visiting Scholar to a residency training program that wants to
supplement and enrich its training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. The
expenses and stipend for the Visiting Scholar are covered by the award
for a 1-3 day visit, supported by an endowment provided by a grateful
patient of Dr. Teichner. All residency training programs are eligible
to apply. Preference will be given to programs that are "underserved"
in an area of psychodynamic education and training. Programs and their
Visiting Scholar will be honored at the annual meetings of both AADPRT
and the Academy.
Additional information, including a list of eligible Visiting Scholars
and an application form, can be found on the AADPRT website at
http://www.aadprt.org/
As this is the first year of the award, we welcome any and all
suggestions for the future. Please address any questions or comments to
Sherry Katz-Bearnot, MD, current President of the AAPDP, Jackie Coleman,
Executive Director of AAPDP, or to me as President of AADPRT.
